Vance Archer

Vance D. Archer III has been a musician for over 65 years. His career started with playing classical cello in the family string quartet and winds through 40 years of leading Folk Music, Irish Celli and Contra Dance bands in the metropolitan New York City/New Jersey region. Vance currently focuses on sharing folk music in the "Fiddle Heaven" of the Piedmont Triad.

Since moving to Greensboro in 2005, Vance has become active in the Piedmont Triad Music and Art Scene. His fiddle in the Irish Pub Band, Banna added fire to their eclectic blend of Traditional Irish Pub and Original Songs. in 2023 Vance turned the band’s fiddling responsibility to Crystal Santana a rising force in the Triad music community. Vance convenes the Triad Fiddlers, where he teaches Old Time and Irish tunes and techniques to all; He hosts the weekly Triad Folk Project's Music Circle which shares acoustic music from all traditions. Vance hosts a "Traveling Hootenanny" where folks join for an evening of socialization and singing. Vance is also an active member of the "High Lonesome Strings". the Piedmont's regional bluegrass music association.

Vance performs a monthly solo concert series in various Triad Assisted Living venues. For these solo performances he plays Guitar, Autoharp and Fiddle while leading the singing.

Vance is a member of the faculty of the Highland North Music Academy where he teaches violin, cello and autoharp and guitar.

Vance would rather practice outside than inside. He can often be seen strolling in the Bog Garden, Bicentennial Gardens, Country Park or the Arboretum fiddling with his dog Jolly tied to his belt.

Vance is Available for both individual and group appearances at reasonable rates. He teaches Fiddle, Cello, Autoharp and Guitar.
